The History
Built in 1670, this character filled home blends exposed historic features with warm, contemporary interiors, offering a truly unique countryside escape. Inside, the original granary layout has been thoughtfully reimagined to create a welcoming living room with an open fireplace (perfect for cosy evenings), a large, fully equipped kitchen ideal for home cooked meals, and two bespoke bedrooms designed for restful, luxurious sleep. A modern bathroom and American style laundry facilities complete the space, making Newbrook House as practical as it is charming. Where Exactly are We?

The Granary sits at the end of a quiet country lane in Cornanagh, County Mayo, midway between the market towns of Claremorris and Ballinrobe. Ireland West Airport at Knock is thirty minutes away, Galway just over an hour, and both Shannon and Dublin airports are an easy drive. Knock Shrine is thirty minutes from the door, Ashford Castle half an hour, and the Wild Atlantic Way waits just beyond the fields. You will need a car, and you will be glad of it. The roads here are half the pleasure.
Who Stays Here?
Many of our guests come from America and Australia, often tracing a grandmother's townland or simply answering a long held pull towards the old country. They come for a week and leave planning the next visit. The house suits couples and small family groups, and it suits every season: long bright evenings in summer, and in winter the fire lit, the rain on the three foot stone walls, and absolutely nowhere you need to be. We are open all year round.

"We chose Newbrook House because it's a very old converted stone granary with lots of character. We stayed for a week and explored Co Mayo, a county we had never visited before. The cottage was warm and cosy with a wood-burning stove. The bathroom was spacious with a roll-top bath. Caroline was a lovely host and provided us with lots of local knowledge. We had great weather and really enjoyed our stay."
